Chiaro (key-ah-row) is the bright, lively, modern wine in our range.
We picked the Tempranillo grapes over multiple picking dates, with varying ripeness levels. The earliest pick was laid on racks to dry for two weeks, ripening the tannin while retaining concentrated vibrancy and freshness. The remaining batches were a combination of whole bunch ferment and traditional ferment. Adding Grenache created even further complexity and layers of flavours. All batches were fermented with the natural wild yeast present on the grape skins. Following basket pressing the wine was settled with tank, with no oak influence and bottled early to retain the beautiful freshness and vibrancy of the fruit.
We have taken the word Chiaro from the Italian art term ‘chiaroscuro’ which describes the use of light and shade. ‘Chiaro’ is light, and ‘scuro’ is dark.
