Tiny winery: Huge win

Rojomoma triumphs over big names of Australian wine to win the prestigious Red Wine of Provenance Trophy at the 2017 Australian National Wine Show in Canberra, with their Red Art Shiraz.

The trophy is awarded to outstanding Australian wines that have shown a consistency of style and quality over many years. It celebrates wines with a sense of place and an ability to age and improve in bottle. Three vintages of the same wine, with the same label, spread across at least ten years are judged as a group. The winning wine from the small Barossa family winery was the Red Art Single Vineyard Shiraz from the 2016, 2010 and 2006 vintages.

The National Wine Show of Australia is a competition for the best of the best as only wines that have received a medal at a qualifying Australian wine show can be entered. Winning the coveted Wine of Provenance trophy is a huge achievement for any winery as it is the only award which judges three wines together, not just one individual wine.

We were ecstatic to receive the trophy at Australia’s pinnacle wine event Friday evening.  We think it is the most important trophy we could win. It shows that our wines are amongst an elite group of iconic Australian wines reflecting outstanding age worthiness and consistently at the highest quality.  It is great to be rewarded for all the hard work we have put in.  This trophy represents everything we do.  We make our wine to reflect the quality and personality of our site.  It is born from respect for our amazing vines and the desire to tell their story in every bottle.  Winning this trophy says that we are achieving this goal, and we are considered to be doing it best in Australia for red wine right now, and that’s a huge accolade.

2017 has been a very successful year for us, also collecting the Trophy for the Most Successful Small Producer at the recent Barossa Wine Show.
