Best in the World ~ Wine writing books, Gourmand International Book Awards
After achieving the position of Best Wine Writing book in Australia for the Gourmand International Book Awards 2016, Bernie's book then went on the compete for the Best in the World (Wine writing) in the Gourmand International Book Awards. The top 3 books in each category are awarded "Best in the World". "True Stories: Portraits of Barossa Winemakers" came 3rd in the Wine Writing Category and so can now proudly wear the title of "Best in the World" in the Gourmand International Book Awards. The international competition is like a 'Book Olympics', with countries around the globe competing for the top three positions in their category. "Let no one think this is simply a human version of Wine Dogs. It's a great deal more than that; Bernadette is a superb photographer with great imagination, a great sense of humour, and writes with flair. Every photograph and its accompanying story is a joy to look at and to read. It's hard to say more, so compelling are the images. One wouldn't normally expect to use the words 'page turner' (more often used for a well written crime thriller), but once you open the book, you will be swept along through to the finish." James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion True Stories: Portraits of Barossa Winemakers is a collection of photographic portraits of winemakers with their hobbies - an insight into their personality, beyond their wine brand. Accompanying each image I have written a story reflecting the conversations we had during the photo sessions and each winemaker has also contributed their own piece. The photographic style and theme allowed the winemakers to comfortably be themselves and reveal not just who they are, but interesting tales about themselves as well. The narrative shares those stories in the same whimsical, relaxed fashion in which they were first discussed. As a collective, the characters in this book display a snap shot of a section of today's Barossa culture. -
Our flagship wine Raj’s Pick is a made from the best hand selected parcels of grapes. Named after our son Raj, it is only made in vintages that produce fruit suitable for Raj’s Pick. Concentrated pressings have added great richness and dense tannins to the wine. This is delicately balanced with beautiful French oak. If you have the willpower, it can be cellared for many years to come. Only 30 cases made! 5 Stars Tony Love The Adelaide Advertiser

Chiaro (key-ah-row) is the bright, lively, modern wine in our range. A blend of hand picked Grenache and Tempranillo, it is a fabulously vibrant wine with flavours of raspberries, cherries, rhubarb, red liquorice and cranberry. Chiaro is fresh and crunchy with a silky texture. The zesty finish sings! Enjoy this wine in its youth and chill lightly. We have taken the word Chiaro from the Italian art term 'chiaroscuro' which describes the use of light and shade. 'Chiaro' is light, and 'scuro' is dark.
